Not much was expected out of the St. Augustine volleyball program coming into the season and while they haven't set the world on fire, the Knights have broken a 12 year playoff drought. For a school that has seen success in the past, including multiple state volleyball titles, the team had fallen on hard times. First year head coach Jessica Ramirez took over a team comprised of six freshmen and only a handful of upperclassmen. The early going was rough but the Knights were able to turn things around even taking a game against district power Incarnate Word. Now as the playoffs near the few seniors on the team are over joyed to leave their mark on the program.
The Knights will take on Ursuline Academy out of Dallas in the TAPPS 5A super regional. That game will be Friday at 5:45 in Salado, TX, about an hour north of Austin on I-35.
