Tonight marked the start of the postseason for two Laredo high school volleyball teams. First up is United as they went to Roma tonight taking on Edinburg North and the Horns come away with a win in four sets. The Longhorns with the win tonight will move on to the area championship round and will take on Brownsville Rivera, who won last night in four sets over Nikki Rowe.
In Rio Grande City, it was Nixon taking on Missions Veterans Memorial high school and the Mustangs come up short losing tonight. Nixon loses in four sets ending their playoff run in the bi-district round. They were the only LISD school to make the postseason this year.
With their loss, that leaves only United and Alexander as Laredo teams moving to the area round of the UIL playoffs. The Bulldogs will take on Brownsville Veterans high this Thursday at 7 pm, in Rio Grande City.
