It was a one in a thousand shot but one of Laredo's top young soccer players is headed to California to train with some of the best the US and Mexico have to offer. Aaron Alvarez was spotted this summer during workouts with Chivas and will go to Los Angeles to receive training from top US and Mexican coaches. Alvarez was one of 20 young men chosen out of a pool of over 20,000 that applied. Despite being only 14 years old the midfielder knows this is a huge opportunity if he wants to play soccer at the next level.
"It's a dream come true and a once in a life time opportunity and I’m just glad that I got the chance to go on."
In addition to the training many MLS, Mexican League and US college scouts will be on hand making this an important showcase of talent.
