A Laredoan returned home a medallist in a world jujitsu tournament this weekend. The International Brazilian Jujitsu Federation World Tournament was held in Long Beach, Calif. this weekend. Michael Esquivel, 20, competed in the adult male featherweight category and placed third. He said his coaches inspire him to do his best. "They really inspired me to compete at this tournament and they believed in me and by them believing in me, I believed in myself and I felt good that I could win this." There were a total of 130 competitors in his category from all over the world. Esquivel has been training for four years now and hopes to compete in tournaments in Las Vegas and New York.
