Laredo has long been known as a hot bed for boxing and recently three more Gateway City fighters began making a name for themselves in South Texas. The three boxers went down to Brownsville to compete against a number of other fighters and each came out the champion for their weight classes. Jenny Nava is only 13-years-old but took home gold in teh 110 lb. weight class, Eliut Diaz dominated at 114 lbs. and Jerry Nava was best at 132 lbs.
For Nava it was all about earning respect in the boxing community and representing his city. "I had never achieved anything in boxing before and I was happy because I won the golden gloves and hopefully I get more recognition and I went to represent Laredo, all of the gyms in Laredo."
All three winners came from the Laredo Boxing Club which is in the Orlando Canizales gym.
ALL THREE WINNERS CAME FROM THE LAREDO BOXING CLUB LOCATED AT THE ORLANDO CANIZALES GYM.
