It was a night of boxing and mixed martial arts at the Life Downs Pavillion tonight with Border Fightfest 5 going down. Laredoans packed themselves into the arena for a night of action inside the ring. The first fight of the night featured Laredoan John Montes taking on Jorge Balboa. Montes was coming off a loss in Austin in his last match. With four seconds remaining in the 1st round, he would land two left hooks, stopping the fight and earning a technical knockout, evening his professional record at 2-2.
The next Laredoan to fight would not be so fortunate, as Francisco Chavez would take a punishing blow to the chin, being knocked out 96 seconds into the fight by Victor Rojas. Chavez would be taken away on a stretcher but he would give the crowd a thumbs up on his way out of the arena.
