It was a night of fun and games this evening at Uni-Trade Stadium as the two day “Sister Cities Baseball Classic” got under way. The two night event is meant to showcase the rich history of the sport here in the two Laredos while also giving each cities team a chance to stake a claim as the areas best. Tonight it was the major league style home run derby that wowed the fans with balls flying out of Uni-Trade Stadium. With each home run hit that meant more money going to a trio of charities here in the area. They just entered the third round at the stadium and John Alonso leads all batters with 11, just ahead of fellow lemurs John Allen and Garrett Buchelle.
Earlier in the night it was all Laredo in the city versus city softball game with the boys on the north side of the Rio Grande winning 18-0. Thursday will feature the main event as the Lemurs and Tecos take the field for a full on game starting at 7:30.
