One of Laredo's young boxing stars was honored today by Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar after bringing home the state title this past weekend. Joshua Juarez won the Junior Olympics Texas Boxing Championship at the 176 pound weight class. The 16-year-old will now head for Mobile Alabama to box in the national championships, and if he wins there would compete against the worlds best in London. This is not the first time Juarez has won gold while training at the PAL gym as he also has two Ringside boxing championships and two regional titles. With this impressive resume he is now ranked third in his weight class for the uUS and Canada.
In edition to Juarez, the Police Activities League gym is sending out a number of boxers to compete at the national level with Jacqueline Torres the next to fight at the Ringside tournament in Kansas City later this summer.
