Longhorns off to Fast Start

By KGNS News

They were not hailed as the front runners to start the baseball season, but the United Longhorns have staked their claim as the team to beat having won tournaments in back to back weeks. Two weekends ago it was the Border Olympics where the Longhorns proved to be better than the rest of the competition, beating Austin Westlake 2-0 in the final game. This past weekend United went to Pasadena and once again came away the champions of that tournament, winning 11-0 over Cypress Falls in the championship game.

Head coach JJ Gomez is pleased with the way his boys have started the 2013 season. "From the get go we've put that in their heads that it comes down to good pitching, great defense and clutch hitting. They've bought into it and we practice it everyday and so far so good." (JJ Gomez, Head Coach)

It will be an all United matchup tomorrow night at Krueger Field as the Longhorns and Panthers square off in 29-5A action.
