The Martin Tigers have made it through the first three weeks of the football season with only one win. Despite this, head coach David Charles is excited about where they are headed.
Martin opened the season with two difficult losses, dropping a game to Roma that the Tigers led 14-3 at one point. They followed that up with a 7 point loss to CC Winn at home. Martin bounced back last Thursday, beating United South for the second year in a row, in impressive fashion 21-6.
Rudy Castillo has once again been a workhorse, averaging over 140 yards a game on the ground. While their record is only 1-2, Charles says he can see the progress with each passing week.
Martin is off this week, but will open district play one week from Thursday, on the road, against Corpus Christi Miller.
