It was a wet Friday night across much of South Texas with a number of games being called due to the heavy amounts of rain and lightning. One such game was Nixon's duel with Zapata,M which was stopped at halftime with the mustangs leading 21-0. UIL rules state the two teams must agree to the game being canceled or it can be picked up from where things were stopped. This was not the case for the Mustangs and Hawks though who agreed to call things after a rain delay at halftime that lasted around two hours. Many other teams around the area were not so lucky, meaning they may have to travel make these games up at a later time. Nixon will start district play this Friday as they take on Cigarroa at Shirley Field while the Hawks will travel to Crystal City taking on the Javelinas.
