For the second time this season the Laredo Rattlesnakes saw a lead disappear in the closing minutes as they fell to Amarillo Saturday night. Laredo would score on their first eight possessions of the game, taking a 17 point lead late in the 3rd quarter.
Things would fall apart from there, as the Rattlesnakes only scored three points the rest of the way. The first possession of the 4th quarter came in question, where penalties occur ed on 2nd down, which should have forced a replay of the down. Instead head coach Rod Miller says the referees signaled 3rd down, something that proved costly in the one possession game and led to a missed field goal.
"It's very frustrating when you keeping a count and call timeout to make the refs understand that there's a down that's missing and they blow it off. It's no big deal but after the game we have the facts to prove it. I'm just curious to see, it's not going to do much, but an apology would be nice when they make a mistake." The Rattlesnakes will finally return home this Saturday as they host the Abilene Bombers at the LEA. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
