With their win Saturday night in San Angelo, the Rattlesnakes have guaranteed themselves at least one home game in the Lone Star Football League playoffs. Laredo jumped out to a big first quarter lead then hung on to beat the Bandits on Saturday. Now they have a week off to rest and recuperate before welcoming in the Amarillo Venom in a match up of the leagues top two teams. Earlier today KGNS sports talked with two of the teams stars about what it would mean to secure home-field advantage all the way through the playoffs.
"It's not going to be an easy task because they are the number one team in the league right now. We did it before though, so we know we can do it again. It's really important to get that home field advantage because it's a tough place to play on the road. Especially going into Amarillo, if we have to go in there again." (Davion Mitchell, Rattlesnakes defensive back)
"It seems like whoever is playing at home, definitely has the advantage and not taking that long drive up to Amarillo would be great, but whatever happens, if we have to travel so be it. We'll be ready but we would lover to be home in front of our fans." (Bryan Randall, Rattlesnakes quarterback)
The Rattlesnakes will host the Venom on June 29th at seven pm at the Laredo Energy Arena in the regular season finale for both teams. In their other meeting here in Laredo the Rattlesnakes came away with a 68 to 64 win in thrilling fashion. handing the Venom one of only two losses on the season.
