TAMIU Baseball Notches Another Program First

By KGNS News

Even in this young season the TAMIU baseball team continues to here the phrase first time in program history. Monday the regional rankings were released for division two baseball and the Dustdevils made their inaugural appearance in the top 10 of the south central region. TAMIU picked up the #10 ranking thanks to a 9-0 start to the season before dropping the final two games at Arkansas Fort Smith Sunday.
Head coach chad porter is happy with the way his team is playing but the end goal is all about making the heartland conference tournament.

"I think it's a great indicator, especially this early of the direction of the program. We are up there competing with those teams that have been in the regionals for a long time. It's a good thing, the guys have worked really hard but at the end of the day we have to battle to get in the top four of this conference because nothing else really matters."

There will not be much rest for TAMIU as they are back on the field tomorrow against non conference foe Oklahoma Christian University. First pitch for that game is scheduled for noon at Jorge Haynes Field on the TAMIU campus.
