It was a big weekend for TAMIU soccer players as not one but two Dustdevils were named Players of the Week in the Heartland Conference. Jovany Macias was honored as the conferences Offensive Player of the Week, as the sophomore scored the game winning goal over Metro State in overtime. Macias also found the back of the net against 11th ranked Colorado Mines, scoring TAMIU's only goal of the match.
While Macias was scoring, Aissa Pedraza was making sure no one got on the scoreboard against the women. Pedraza stopped all six shots form St. Mary's as she earned her first career shutout and only the 4th in the programs history.
More good news for the women's team as they also are ranked regionally for the first time in school history. Following TAMIU's 4-0 win on Wednesday, the Dustdevils are now ranked 9th in the Central region for all of Division II. The women added to their win total tonight beating Huston-Tilottson 3-0.
