The TAMIU soccer team is gearing up for their first real game of the season and it just might be their most important of 2012 as well. Unlike other sports, division two of the NCAA does not give automatic bids to conference winners, instead taking the top ranked teams from each region.
The Dustdevils are on their way to take on one of the best in the Central region in Midwestern State University, who is ranked 14th in the country. Despite going 8-0 in conference play and being ranked, TAMIU was not invited to the national tournament last year after losing to regional foes MSU and Incarnate Word. In their only meeting of 2011 the Mustangs beat the Dustdevils 1-0 in a double overtime thriller. These two teams will square off tomorrow night in Wichita Falls, TX at 7:30 They will meet again in two weeks, this time back in the Gateway City.
