The UIL medical advisory board has recommended for the UIL legislation to limit full-contact practices to only 90-minutes per week. Currently, there is no limit in place for full-contact practices. According to the UIL, if the council approves this recommendation, then it must be approved by the commissioner of education before it goes into effect. State media has reported that the UIL legislation has never voted down a recommendation from the medical advisory board before.
