The United baseball team is the last high school squad still practicing as they prepare for the region IV semifinals this Saturday. One of the defining traits of the 2013 Longhorn team has been their ability to come at opponents in waves. It is not just one or two star players that dominate, but instead a collection of talent that can burn you throughout their lineup and pitching staff. Much of that goes directly to the fact that the roster is loaded with nine seniors.
"It's a collection of guys that all have the same goal. They step through that gate to practice and work hard everyday. I've had a lot of good teams come through here and they are just as good as those guys." (JJ Gomez, UNITED HEAD COACH)
"We come out here not regretting it and knowing it's our last year, we have to push everybody and just be the best we can possibly be." (Aaron Navarro, UNITED INFIELDER)
"We want to make the best of it not just for the seniors but for everybody that's supported us and we want to make everyone proud and make it to our goal which is the state finals." (Joel Garza, UNITED PITCHER)
The road to the state finals will go through Corpus Christi's Cabaniss field this Saturday at 3:30 when United will tangle with San Antonio O'Connor.
