Another high school baseball star has decided on where he will continue his career. United's third baseman and pitcher Sergio Pollorena will play baseball at Incarnate Word in San Antonio. Pollorena hit a .429 in district this season. On the mound, Pollorena pitched 18 innings in district, dishing 26 strikeouts and a 3.17 ERA. He also earned first team all-district selection as well as receiving honorable mention on the Texas Sports Writers Association list. The former Longhorn said he's glad he has the opportunity to get to play at the next level while staying close to home. "I mean I was really excited because not many people get to do that. But, I'm really grateful for them to give me a chance there. I'm just going to go out there and keep playing baseball the way I play and hopefully make it to the next level after that." Pollorena will be going to Incarnate Word on an athletic and academic scholarship. His parents said they are proud for all he has achieved.
