Some congratulations are in order for a pair of youth baseball teams that will be moving on to represent Laredo. First off the American Little League minors program won the district 34 championship, beating Zapata in the final game 13-0. Sigfriedo Sepulveda was a beast at the plate going 14 for 16 in the tournament with two home runs and he scored 13 times. They will now represent Laredo in the sectional tournament matching some of the best from south Texas against each other.
In the PONY league super regional, the Mustang team from Laredo is headed on after their weekend in Corpus Christi. The team made up of mostly eight-year-old’s was able to win the super regional and now move on to the world series in Burelson Texas. They will face off with 16 teams from Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas starting on July 11th. Good luck to both these teams as they move on and represent the Gateway City in future tournaments.
