Many of TAMIU's top players suffered through foul trouble early on Thursday but the reserves still gave the Dustdevils a lead for much of the 1st half. In the 2nd Newman would make their comeback and this one would be a back and forth affair the final seven minutes with both teams holding the lead. With just under three minutes left the lights would go out in the gym, causing a delay of the game. When things got going TAMIU found it tough to score, being shutout over the final 2:07 of the game, losing 59-58.
