Maldonando Brings Home Conference Honor

One of Laredo's own has been honored by the Heartland Conference, as former Alexander Bulldog Mario Maldonado has been named the conferences “Hitter of the Week.” Maldonado helped the St. Mary’s Rattlers sweep Oklahoma Panhandle State over the weekend, going 4/8 in the series and hitting his first home run of the season. The sophomore picked up a pair of hits in each of the last two games, and drove in four runners while scoring twice himself. The former Bulldog is now hitting .420 on the season with ten runs scored as the Rattlers are the 11th ranked team in the country. St. Mary’s will make their only appearance of the season here in Laredo on April 26th and 27th for a three game series with TAMIU.
