TAMIU's newest Athletic Director is officially in town and ready to take over the reigns of the Dustdevils sports teams. After a nationwide search whittled the names down to three men, it was Gilbert “Griz” Zimmerman who wowed the search committee and is now the head of the athletic department. Griz is coming most recently from Lake Erie College in Ohio, but has stops at numerous schools including as Assistant Athletic Director at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Zimmerman spoke today about his vision of growth he sees for TAMIU athletics, and he along with President Dr. Ray Keck, are excited for the new direction for the Dustdevils.
Zimmerman was a football player under hall of fame coach Bo Schembechler at Michigan and is a veteran of the United States Navy.
