The TAMIU women's soccer team came out of the weekend 1-0-1 as a team, but their goalie took it one step further bringing home player of the weeks after her performances. Katelin Jennings was named Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week following over three hours in the goal without allowing a shot to get past her. The junior goalkeeper battled Newman University to a 0-0 draw on Thursday, stopping two shots in the process. Saturday saw an even better performance, stopping all four shots thrown her way as Jennings was pulled with 12 minutes remaining, just missing out on her second shutout of the week.
"I'm definitely a really big accomplishment for myself and I feel I've come a long way in the last couple years here and it felt good to have some recognition about that so I'm proud of myself and proud of my team because I couldn't have done it without them."
The Dustdevils will be back on the road this week in pivotal games against Dallas Baptist and St. Edwards.
