TAMIU Hosting Day for Physically Challenged

By KGNS News

The TAMIU athletic department will host an event geared for the physically challenged youth and teenagers of Laredo. For the 2nd straight year the Dustdevils are partnering with US Paralympics to host the Adapted Sports Experience. The ASE will feature wounded warrior athletes from Brookes Army Medical Center to promote a number of sports.

"Anyone from grade school to high school can come out here and we'll have signs directing you on where to park. It's just a great opportunity to learn from some fantastic athletes that were soldiers but have re-focused their lives and they have a nice message to pass along."

The day will kick off at 10 am with a demonstration of wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball. Then it will finish with an afternoon session at one pm dedicated to wheelchair racing and track and field events. The event is free and open to the public.
