TAMIU's Weakley Hits Ground Running

By KGNS News

The TAMIU Men's basketball program has a new head coach after Shane Rinner departed for the west coast last Friday. Bryan Weakley had served as Associate Head Coach for three seasons under Rinner and will now move over one seat as he takes on his first head coaching job. He also was the teams recruiting coordinator and player development specialist while as the number two man. After playing for and coaching with Rinner, Weakley says the players will notice a very different style that he will bring to the court and with his players overall.

Coach Weakley will not have much time to rest though as the Dustdevils are looking to bring in ten new players this summer for the upcoming season. TAMIU signed two more men this afternoon as Cephas Olgesby and Randell Jones will be donning the maroon and white beginning this fall. Coach Weakley is very excited abou the skill sets both these guys bring and their ability to step in and play right away.

Olgesby is a 6'1" guard that is the all-time leading scorer at Cape Fear Junior College but has sat out the last two seasons after having surgery on his knee. Randell Jones is a 6'7" forward, also out of Cape Fear who average 7.6 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 59% from the field.
