Uni-Trade Stadium will host it's first ever collegiate exhibition baseball game this Friday between two south Texas teams. The City of Laredo will host the hometown LCC Palominos as they take on division two team St. Mary's. Friday will provide Laredoans a chance to see one of their own come back as former Alexander Bulldog Mario Maldonado returns home with the Rattlers. Another reason for the contest is to give kids in the Gateway City a chance to see the level of play at Laredo Community College.
"For recruiting it's come see us play, see the level of baseball we play, it's awesome. We saw 90-92 miles an hour every weekend last year and I don't think the kids from Laredo know that. We play in a competitive conference and we want the kids to see that."
The exhibition game will be this Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm and organizers expect it to last around four hours. Admission to the game is $3 for adults and students will be free.
