The Alexander Bulldogs baseball team has been honored by ESPN and Powerade in their Fab Top 50 Rankings. After defeating previously ranked Churchill in the regional sem-finals this past weekend, the Bulldogs make their first apperance in these national rankings at #47. The team says they were shocked when they learned about their position in the national poll.
"It shocked us. We were in the huddle, practice was about to end and coach Ramos said you all are in the top 50 in the nation and we were just shocked. We didn't say anything after we heard about that."
"It feels kind of the same like any other day but just to be recognized as one of the top 50 teams in the nation is nice."
"This is great. I'm estatic with where we are at and how people view our program as a strong program in the state of Texas."
Alexander is also ranked 10th in the Midlands region and 6th overall in the state of Texas in these same rankings. The Bulldogs opponent in the regional final, Corpus Christi Carroll, is currently ranked 7th in the nation in the Top 50 and #1 in the region and state. The three game regional final series starts this Thursday at Uni-Trade stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm. Game 2 and if necessary game 3 will be in Corpus on Friday.
