As the Alexander Bulldogs get ready for their regional final match-up, their opponent is a familar one in the Corpus Christi Carroll Tigers. These two teams faced off in a one game playoff last season in the regional finals, with Carroll winning 2-1. This years Tigers squad has a record of 31-4 overall and are ranked 10th in the state by maxpreps.com. They also boast a potential top 10 draft pick in pitcher Courtney Hawkins. Of Carrolls losses this season, one was to Mater Dai out of California and another came at the hands of Bishop Gorman from Nevada, both those teams are ranked #1 in their respective states.
Despite all these factors, the Tigers say they are not taking the Bulldogs lightly.
Game 1 of this series will be Thursday at 7 pm at Uni-Trade stadium. Tickets are only being sold the day of the game at the stadium box office beginning at 5:30. Game 2 will be in Corpus at Whataburger Field on Friday at 5 pm, with game 3 to follow if necessary.
