Brian Swain Shines in First Start
He was a thorn in the side of Laredo high school defenses and now Brian Swain is getting his shot at the college level. The former Alexander Bulldog used his arm and feet to get noticed in high school, and he has taken the same mentality to Howard University where he has been named the men's athlete of the week.
Swain got the first start of his career and promptly ran the ball for 105 yards on 14 carries, including a 33-yard touchdown in the Pirates 20-10 loss. The freshman also threw for 91 yards and was not sacked or intercepted in the game.
