It was a big Tuesday at Alexander High School as a local runner is taking her talents to the collegiate level. Brandie Lee Garcia signed her letter of intent this afternoon to run cross country and track at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Garcia is a four-time regional qualifier and was a part of the first ever Laredo team to win regionals during her junior season. In that year the Bulldogs finished 7th at state, she followed that up with a personal best 25th overall finish at the UIL state championship her senior season. Garcia spoke to us about how she attended camps at the Corpus Christi campus when she was a freshman. "Since then I fell in love with the campus and the school, the view, because of the beach but also the people there, especially the team."
Garcia is the 6th Bulldog runner in the past five years to sign a letter of intent to compete in college.
