Horn's Lose Salas for Season

By KGNS News

It was a tough loss for the United Longhorns last night in more ways then the final score indicated. Pro 8 Sports has learned that quarterback Alec Salas has broken his femur and will miss the rest of the 2012 season. In the 2nd quarter, with his team trailing by a touchdown, the senior tucked the ball under his arm and ran for the pylon, getting taken down right as he scored. Salas would not get up from that tackle, being taken off the field on a stretcher and sent to the hospital for x-rays.

Junior Derek Esparza would come into the game as his back up and lead the Longhorns for most of the night, including a long run that could have won the game in the final minute for United but was called back due to penalty. United would lose 42-37, dropping their record to 0-4 as they enter district play this Friday night.
