The Bulldogs are not the only Laredo team in the volleyball postseason, as the Nixon Mustangs used a hot second round of district play to secure themselves the #3 seed out of district 31-4A. Nixon struggled early, but found their stride, winning seven of their last eight games, including a sweep of Cigarroa to guarantee their spot in the postseason. The girls say they hope to continue with that momentum as they take on Mission Veterans Memorial tomorrow night.
"Last year we didn't make the playoffs by one game, so making it this year is was a fantastic feeling. We're really glad to be in the playoffs." (Natalia Medina)
"It feels fantastic to bring back the tradition that Nixon had. Last year was the first year we didn't make it to playoffs in 10 years so now that we made it again, it's a really good feeling." (Linda Barreda)
The Mustangs will be taking on the Patriots tomorrow night in Rio Grande City at 7 pm. United will also play tomorrow night against Edinburg North, with that game taking place in Roma, also at 7.
