Playoff Push is on in High School Volleyball

By KGNS News

After last night, the high school volleyball playoff picture is rounding into form with most teams having only two games left in the regular season. Things are complicated in district 31-4A, with four teams fighting for two spots in the postseason. Flour Bluff will be the #1 see with an undefeated record of 12-0, while Moody clinched a playoff spot with their win over Martin. After that, Cigarroa is in 3rd with a 7-5 record, followed by three teams at 6-6, after Nixon beat Alice and Ray lost to Flour Bluff.

The Toro's next opponent will be Flour Bluff Friday night while the Mustangs will travel to Miller. Cigarroa and Nixon finish the regular season on Tuesday with a match against each other, which could determine who will move on to the playoffs.

In district 29-5A, all that is left to determine is seeds two and three as Alexander, Eagle Pass, United and Del Rio have all clinched spots. The 11th ranked Bulldogs will be the #1 seed out of the district as they are a perfect 10-0. Eagle Pass still has the inside track on the second seed, having a game up on United, as well as the tiebreaker having beaten the Lady Longhorns in both meetings. And even though Del Rio lost last night, they officially clinched a playoff spot due to United South losing to Alexander.
