St. Augustine and athletic director Rodrigo Romo sponsored a coach’s clinic for volunteer basketball coaches who coach the younger kids.
The clinic featured Martin basketball coach Hecky Noyola., United high school coach Archie Ramos and TAMIU men's coach Bryan Weekly.
Each one discussed different aspects of basketball.
They said they wanted to do this for the community so basketball players can start developing as players at a young age.
"Us as professional coaches for the older ones, the ones that coach in high school and college. We go to clinics all the time; they are available to us everywhere. The ones who are volunteers who might need a little more training or more knowledge of the game, never have anything to go to."
"You always want to give back. I've been blessed over the years to have been coached by people in my life on and off the court so I want to give my knowledge to the Laredo community."
This is the first time St. Augustine has done and said they were very happy with the turn out.
