There has been one team that stands out above the rest in district 29-5A boy's basketball this season, as United has sprinted out to a 6-0 mark. The Longhorns sit atop the district standings as each team prepares for the second round of play. Things have mostly come easy for United, with their only games decided by less than double digits was an eight-point win over Del Rio and the double overtime thriller over Alexander. In all Uniteds average margin of victory, even with those two close contests, sits at 25 points, with wins of 46 and 40 over district foes. With another showdown against the Bulldogs looming, the Longhorns control their own destiny in the district standings and the ability to obtain the #1 overall seed into the postseason. United will be off on Tuesday before hosting Eagle Pass on Friday.
