Despite giving up a number of hits early on, Laredo starter Greg Wilborn found a way out of every jam, holding Newark to no runs over his 6 2/3 innings. Jimmy Mojica got the scoring started in the bottom of the 3rd with an RBI single scoring Mike Provencher. Garrett Buchelle added his first home run of the season in the 7th giving Laredo a 2-0 lead. That would be more than enough for the pitching staff as they blank the Bears and win their 6th straight game. That win coupled with Amarillo's loss to Wichita has Laredo alone in first place in the south division.
