The idea of hockey in Laredo has not gone away and today the Laredo Energy Arena took another step forward in their pursuit of a team to replace the Bucks. In a press release sent out earlier today, SMG, the management team at the LEA, stated they have signed a letter of intent offically letting the North American Hockey League aware of their desire to bring a team to Laredo. The NAHL is a league of teams comprised mostly of teenagers looking to make a name for themselves, either in the professional ranks or at the collegiete level. A group called Consolidated Sports would be the owners of the new team.
The NAHL currently has 24 teams within in the league, with franchise in Corpus and Austin and a proposed team in the Valley as well. This is still no word on if the new ownership group would pursue the Bucks name or logo.
