Talks Advance to Bring Toro's to Laredo

By KGNS News

More details are surfacing about the proposed deal between the City of Laredo, the LEA and the Nuevo Laredo Toros. While a deal to bring the Mexican League Basketball franchise is still being worked out, and nothing is finalized yet, the proposed deal would be for two years on a trial basis to judge fan excitment and attendance. One hold up continues to be the purchasing of a court, but the city is expecting that in the next few weeks they could have the floor delievered and in use. Officals with LEA are excited about what this means for the people of the Gateway City.

"We've had some exhibition games that were very successful. Seeing a high quality product like this and having 11 games with some added games in the playoffs because we fully expect to see some playoffs. They have been a very successful team having won a championship before, so it's going to be a pretty exciting season here."

Speaking of the Toro's success, in their four years in the Mexican Basketball League, they have never finished worse than 4th out of 16 teams, with their championship coming in 2011.
